State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the information about creating 6 lakh cyber warriors under a major project under the Department of Posts and Telecommunications is a sheer rumour. While nspeaking on Saturday at Dak Bhaban, he referred to the matter as 'political revenge in national crisis'.

Later in the night, in a post on his verified Facebook page, Palak wrote, "Several lakhs of cyber warriors have been created under the project of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology" is being spread on social media with false information.

In this social media which is temporarily closed in the country, the state minister also wrote, 'We should all behave responsibly for the overall development, peace and security of the country by avoiding political revenge in this national crisis.'

Stating that nothing can be shared on Facebook without verification, the state minister wrote, 'We all have to be aware and careful while using the internet and social media. All kinds of rumors and misinformation should be avoided and those who spread misinformation should be stopped. Fact-checking first, then to sharing on the internet.'

Earlier on July 18, Akheruz Zaman Takim, the former leader of the Central Chhatra League, made a post on his Facebook ID mentioning the Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak. In it, he alleged that 'State Minister Palak has created 100,000 cyber warriors by assigning Shibir workers from various institutions including BUET'.

Akheruz Zaman Takim writes, 'Zunaid Ahmed Palak vai, why do you have to turn off mobile data today? Because you have made 100,000 cyber warriors by hiring Shibir workers from various institutions including BUET. Your warriors have taken up arms against you. In Joy Bangla concert, Joy Bangla song is not played, Naraye Takbir is chanted.

Below this post, senior journalist Zaidul Ahsan Pintu wrote, 'Awami League will make one lakh cyber warriors: May 30, 2021. The title was wrong. It should be read Khyber, instead of cyber.'

That post of BCL leader Takim was shared by many people. Most of those who shared it are leaders and activists of Chhatra League, Awami League and Jubo League. The issue quickly spread on social media. Zunaid Ahmed Palak has faced the wrath of party leaders and activists.

Even a week after the incident, many people are sharing posts with the same information on Facebook. However, Zunaid Ahmed Palak claims, 'This information is not correct. Completely false and rumors.'

Following this post, Takim wrote, “Zunaid Ahmed Palak bro, you tell Apa (the Prime Minister) that you cannot stop rumors on social media. You can't do it, you can't.
The nation has received much from you, give no more.”
